This next update on the old DiskStation DS1010+ will probably be one of the smaller ones, since not a lot has changed. But I just thought it’d be good to give you another general update on what’s been going on in DiskStation world. I now have 6% storage used, with just over 100GB of storage space taken up. I have the automatic S.M.A.R.T. test disk checker about to run in just a couple of days to make sure everything is still healthy–it’s the first test it’s ever run, since I’ve only had it a month, and it does it once per month. And since I’ve gotten the full gamut of Synology DS mobile phone apps, I’ve been pouring lots more files–and photos–onto it.

Just today I got the Photo Station package onto the DiskStation, and promptly began creating albums to get everything organized. I took all of my photos from the sprinkler fiasco earlier today (see the Sprinkler Diagnostics: The Curse of the No Mod 1 post for more info on that) and used the phone to copy them directly to the DS photo app. Back on the DiskStation, they appeared instantly. I have to say, that DS photo app is probably one of the best-looking photo managers I’ve ever seen. Heck, it may even be better than the stock Apple one. Then I proceeded to load on Tesla photos, which added about 2GB of used storage onto the DiskStation.

And that’s about it for this DiskStation update–nothing else has really happened since the last one. Stay tuned for more happenings!
