Remember SmartDraw? The all-expensive yet quality diagramming software? After a few months without diagramming software and a sudden urge to create floor plans, I decided it was time to do something about the long-ended SmartDraw trial. I created a new account with a different email address and therefore, I was able to begin.
This is the common way to hack a free trial. Use a different email address and you’ll be through, but when you run out of addresses, you’ll be out of luck. My current trial expired already (fortunately, I already got several good floor plans, and the files are saved next time you start a trial, I think) and I’m about to use one of my last available email addresses. The trial lasts for one week, which when you first look at it seems like a lot, but as the days go by, your trial is gone in a flash.
That’s the solution for most people. But what’s the price of the diagramming software, really? $300 for one user, and over $500 for five users. $500 is the price you pay for a mid-range VIDEO CARD, like the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti. At least it’s one-time, but still! Diagramming software must be a really expensive software all around, from what I’ve been seeing. In fact, MS Visio One-Time version isn’t much better!
I hope I can continue this trial one more time with this last email address, and after that…back to pen-and-paper.
