Windows 8 was a total faliure in 2012. Microsoft had been doing a good job of their operating systems up until then. But Microsoft went down the drain with their operating systems in 2012. Windows 8 was supposed to be optimized for tablets and phones, but they forgot to optimize their operating system for desktop computers. It was so hard to get your mouse in the corner of the screen to open the Start Screen, and the Start Screen was one of the worst parts of Windows 8. The Start Menu had existed since Windows 95, and people weren’t very happy to see that Microsoft was taking it away.
The new-fangled Start Screen could be activated by putting your finger (or mouse cursor, which was extremely hard to do) right in the corner of the screen. And, all that work you did trying to get to the very corner of the screen wasn’t worth it at all, because you’d get blast of blue, and a huge Start Screen filled with tiles, and big header at the top that said “Start.”
Since everybody was so upset at Microsoft for taking away the most-loved features of Windows, Windows 10 brought back the traditional Start Menu, and everyone liked it. We’re all living with Windows 10 now, but it has its downsides, so some people like to stay with the classic Windows 7, or even Vista (which I doubt.) Microsoft’s had a long and tiring history with operating systems, and I have to admit that the people still using Windows 7 are correct that that’s the best operating system Windows has ever made.
